Today in Question Period, Rona Ambrose led this afternoon’s session by asking the Liberal Government if they will support her Private Members Bill: The JUST Act.
She stressed the importance of her bill saying, “we need to build confidence in our system so more sexual assault survivors feel comfortable coming forward.”
Ms. Ambrose asked: “Will the Prime Minister join me and support this bill that requires mandatory sexual assault training for lawyers who want to become judges?”
Her colleagues in the Conservative Caucus rose to their feet in applause with enthusiastic support for The JUST Act. The government’s representative, Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould responded by saying they will be reviewing the bill as it makes its way through the House of Commons.
